Tchala Reid (she/her) is the backbone of Mind Body Birth - ensuring that everything runs smoothly and is accounted for.  As the first point of contact, Tchala welcomes each new client with warmth, kindness and unfailing support

Meet our Office Administrator and
Non-Profit Funding Lead,
Tchala Reid

Coming from a strong history of managerial and administrative roles, birth work was never a specific goal.

But helping people was.

Whether that was working as a student writer for Media Watch, a non-profit fighting against sexual violence in the media against women, or recruiting as a Private School Sales Agent for the advancement of BIPOC representation in nursing, to volunteering monthly with Reading To Kids - a program to increase literacy in low income areas, the goal is and has always been to serve, support, and spread love.

Being herself born overseas via midwife in a birth center to an international hippie mom, Tchala has a natural connection to birth work that seems a matter of fate. Growing up internationally, she had the opportunity to live within, and see how many different cultures utilize holistic and naturopathic healthcare.

Tchala came to the States to the lovely little town of Santa Cruz, CA at age 13 with her mother and sister, and after high school went to Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA where she studied communications.

Her introduction to the birthing community began in 2018, heading as Office Manager for another midwifery practice in LA.   Faith Freeman CPM LM was lead midwife at that time for the same practice, and under Faith's leadership and guidance, Tchala grew in knowledge and appreciation for the needs and challenges facing both the clients and families, as well as the midwives, doulas, and other birth workers in the state of California.

Faith and Tchala became close friends, and when Faith moved back into private practice, it was natural that Tchala also moved with her to become head of the office and administration of the new practice.

Tchala's tireless work as administrator has been instrumental in growing Mind Body Birth from a small, homebirth practice to today's bustling and busy birth center.

Her kind and understanding heart resonates with clients from their first inquiry call to their last postpartum visit.

She guides each family in finding ways to fit midwifery care into their budget, including payment plans, financing services, and sliding scale options for care.

Tchala led the development of The Foxx Foundation 501(c)(3) - the non-profit sector of Mind Body Birth, which launched in 2023. She heads both the grant writing, funding applications, and volunteer committees for the various funding streams and programs that acquire monies used to fund midwifery scholarships and programs to improve the accessibility of midwifery care, especially as it relates to the BIPOC, Queer, and low-income communities.

Tchala's mission as both a Co-Owner, Administrator, and Non-Profit Lead is to continue expanding access to care and services in as many ways possible,

She is dedicated to working for the changes the entire birthwork community desperately needs to not only survive, but to thrive.

Outside of Mind Body Birth, Tchala spends her time on personal art projects, practicing recipes, and binge watching true crime. She enjoys finding new cultural dining experiences and when time permits, practicing and recording voice-overs.
